What Does “Wealth” Mean?
--
There are two big misconceptions about wealth that I have an issue with:
1. It happens overnight because the thought that if I post amazing things on my social platforms every single day of the year, then I must be successful and it propagates the message of “I’m a millionaire overnight.” It doesn’t (and never) happens that way.
2. Building wealth only has to do with your bank account. Totally not true. I know many successful, wealthy, rich people that are wealthy, rich and successful in creating change for the communities, being pastors, volunteering their time for good causes and so much more.
I was recently in Cancun and I had the opportunity to volunteer for an amazing cause that focused on building a community for seniors and orphans.
Spending time playing dominoes with the elderly and painting the classrooms for the kids was an incredibly enriching experience.
There’s so much more to wealth than just what’s in your bank account. Even with the volunteering experience, just doing it one time a year isn’t going to be enough for you to feel full with the greatest joy in the world and giving back to someone that you have no connection or ties to.
So let’s redefine what wealth really means.
My big action step for you is to take just a few minutes today and identify what you can do tomorrow to feel wealthy. I have a feeling it’s not going to take very long and I know that you can make that happen.
You have so many things to be grateful for. It’s insane. You can volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of America or be a big brother or be a big sister and offer that time to somebody else so that you feel filled up with joy. It’s so healthy for you to do that for yourself, do that for somebody else and experience joy on a totally different level.
Experience being wealthy on a totally different level.
It’s funny, there are so many people that complain about making $25k or $30k or $40k a year and that is still the 1% income earners in the world that we’re describing. 1% of income earners in the world are making $30k to $35,000 a year. So let’s redefine what it means to be wealthy and experience something greater.
I challenge you to do that today and take that action step.
